A couple days ago I had the privilege of speaking with the NEW Miss Ashley Stewart Theresa Larsen. We had a wonderful time speaking on all things fashion, beauty and self-confidence.
But let me back up a little bit….. Have you heard of Ashley Stewart before?
Most of my plus size fashionistas probably are very aware of what this trendy clothing store is. For those of you who are in the dark right now. Let me enlighten you. Since founded in 1991, Ashley Stewart has been providing plus size fashion for an affordable price. Their mission is “to inspire you to love your curves while helping you feel and look your absolute best”. Honestly, that is the reason why I shop at Ashley Stewart, because I know that I can get really trendy attire for a reasonable price. Not only are the clothes fashionable and sexy. Their also made with high quality fabrics. Here is the proof, I brought the dress for my 25th birthday party from ……..
You guessed it Ashley Stewart!

Now let me tell you about the gorgeous Miss Ashley Stewart Theresa Larsen. She is a native of the Virgin Islands and a force to be reckoned with.
During our conversation we touched on so many topics such as overcoming the “plus” in plus size modeling and what it would take for industry standards to change. We agreed that we don’t really understand why larger sized models can’t be referred to as just a “model” and not a “plus size model” The industry standards definitely need to be updated and Theresa is here to aid in the movement to spark change.

As the conversation continued, I began to realize that Theresa overcame an amazing challenge in by winning Miss Ashley Stewart.

OK! Let me tell you why, Finding Ashley Stewart is a FOUR part competition which narrowed thousands of applicants down to 12 finalist. Ultimately, after all of these rounds were completed only ONE person is chosen to be Miss Ashley Stewart and that person is THERESA LARSEN! Now, do you see why I said she overcame an amazing challenge?
So after getting this revelation mid conversation, I was really inclined to ask her about what kind of advice she would give to an aspiring model or someone who is interested in entering the Finding Ashley Stewart competition next year.
